About — ECHO Films

ECHO Films was founded in 2016 by Aria Lawson with a simple conviction: the most impactful films are the ones that trust their audience enough to be still.

We began in a small studio in Portland's Division Street, making short documentaries about the people and places that often go unnoticed. Our earliest work was characterized by long takes, natural light, and a deliberate avoidance of dramatic score. We wanted to see what happened when you removed the artifice and simply observed.

Over eight years, that philosophy hasn't changed — but our reach has. We've produced work for brands, institutions, and artists across three continents. We've screened at festivals from Sundance to Berlin. But the work we're most proud of still shares the same DNA: quiet, confident, and emotionally honest.

Today, ECHO Films is a team of six — each one a specialist in their craft, each one committed to the belief that less is more. We don't take on every project. The ones we choose, we pour ourselves into completely. That's not a luxury; it's a discipline.

We believe in saying less to communicate more. Every shot, every cut, every word is intentional. We remove until only the essential remains — because clarity is the highest form of craft.

Great work can't be rushed. We take the time to understand, to wait for the right light, to let moments unfold. In an industry obsessed with speed, we choose deliberation — and the results speak for themselves.

Care

Every project receives our full attention. We work with a limited number of clients each year so we can dedicate ourselves completely to the work at hand. Half-measures aren't in our vocabulary.
